The 2020 Jaine Rosé was crafted exclusively from Thunderstone Vineyard, a small vineyard parcel located on the Royal Slope of Washington State’s Columbia Valley. The vineyard is fully sustainable and uses organic farming methods whenever possible. The vines were hand-harvested early in the evening of October 6th, 2020.
Upon arrival at the winery, the grape clusters were de-stemmed and macerated for 24 hours before pressing. The Grenache and Mourvèdre were fermented separately and then blended after 6 months before preparing the wine for bottling. The Rosé was fermented and aged entirely in stainless steel to maximize its aromatic potential. Over the course of 8 months, this wine was individually evaluated over 40 times by our winemaking team, and finally bottled with a light fining and filtration between June 8th and 10th, 2021. Only 1,090 cases were produced.
Tasting Notes
“Perfumed aromatics of dehydrated strawberries, rosewater, and watermelon rind. Swirling adds spring flowers, crystallized peaches, fresh herbs, and chalk. The palate offers fresh stone fruits, a hint of tart red berries, spice rack, and potpourri. A polished wine with lifted acidity and just the right amount of pithy stone fruit to carry the finish.” -Bryan Otis, Proprietor

“Made from mostly Grenache fruit with 6% Mourvèdre, the 2020 Rosé shows off rose water tones alongside pretty melon, shiitake mushroom and guava notes on the palate. A touch lean, though expressing really good texture and tension, this very delicate rosé is best consumed in the short-term while the bright veil of tension remains intact.”
